About The Lamp Workshop
The Lamp Workshop is a family-run business based in East Sussex, specialising in the restoration, repair, and design of fine lighting. We work across the UK—particularly in London—on everything from on-site chandelier restoration to workshop-based rewiring, custom fabrication, and bespoke lighting design.
I'm Jack, and I manage client communication, oversee quality control, and coordinate the safe shipping of our work across the UK and internationally.
Our core team includes:
-
Sam Rose, who runs our electrical department. He manages wiring specifications, processes international orders, and ensures all electrical work meets modern safety standards.
-
Gary, our skilled workshop technician. He handles the assembly of lighting components and applies patination and colour to metalwork with precision.
-
Sam Hickman, our plasterwork artist. He handcrafts all our decorative plaster chandeliers and pendants, bringing creativity and craftsmanship to every piece.
We’re also supported by a trusted network of subcontractors:
-
Glen, my brother and founder of Made by Carricks, who produces custom metal components and complex restoration parts.
-
Bruce, my other brother, who creates all of our CAD drawings and technical plans for both restorations and new designs.
-
Glen Sr., our father and a retired lantern maker, who still contributes occasionally to specialist heritage projects, sharing decades of invaluable experience.
Whether restoring antique lighting in a royal palace or crafting bespoke fixtures in our East Sussex workshop, The Lamp Workshop brings together generations of knowledge, skill, and a passion for beautiful, functional lighting.

Our Commitment
As a family business, we are personally invested in the quality of every piece we work on. Our dedication to craftsmanship, heritage, and client care is second to none.
We have a deep respect for the history and provenance of antique and vintage lighting. Every decision we make—from restoring delicate gold leaf to carefully concealing modern fittings—is guided by our aim to preserve the integrity and original character of each piece.
Our reputation is built not only on the quality of our restoration work but also on the relationships we build with our clients. Whether you need a chandelier sympathetically restored, a historic piece rewired, or simply a professional team to clean and maintain your antique lighting, The Lamp Workshop is here to help.
